Signs of abuse can often be difficult to detect. Many types of abuse are also criminal offences and should be treated as such. 

There are typically ten types of abuse although the radicalistion of a vulnerable adult is also considered abuse.

  • physical abuse
  • domestic violence or abuse
  • sexual abuse
  • psychological or emotional abuse
  • financial or material abuse
  • modern slavery
  • discriminatory abuse
  • organisational or institutional abuse
  • neglect or acts of omission
  • self neglect
