We all joined the charity because we believe in the values that have been nurtured and developed over the decades. We believe we can help to make a difference to the lives of children and young people. It doesn't matter what region, directorate or service area we're from, we're working together to achieve that goal.
Barnardo's is a member of a few finance-focused groups including the Charity Finance Group. This offers a wealth of insight and learning about best practices. We report back to the teams and seek out fresh ways of working. Some members of the team access free online Excel learning, and bearing in mind that it's not only finance teams that use Excel, the free resources are a great way to improve anyone's skills and tricks.
The BU can create a focused learning and development area dedicated to our finance colleagues. But these courses and learning bites are available to all in Barnardo's and we'd love to see these being used more widely.
