Children’s Services Supervision Policy

Find out how we can support you in your role through our supervision procedures.

Is this for you?

It's for all employees and volunteers.

Key points

  • All staff, as-and-when workers and volunteers should make sure they have a supervision agreement in place.
  • Your supervision doesn’t have to be with your line manager but in most cases, it will be.
  • The supervision session can take the form of a one to one, in person or remotely. It can take place in a group or be given by someone other than your line manager.
  • Some roles will require clinical supervision to make sure that professional standards are being met.
  • Supervision must include, among other things, updates on actions from previous meeting review of work, learning and development needs and the discussion of any performance issues.
  • Full-time staff should receive at least 10 sessions a year, with frequency tailored for other types of worker.
