Cycle-to-work scheme

How to apply and save money while making healthier journeys to work.

How does the scheme work?

Barnardo’s buys a bike and/or safety equipment, and you then hire this by paying out of your salary over 12 months.

By paying in this way, you save on National Insurance contributions as well as income tax.

At the end of the hire agreement, Barnardo's may give you the chance to buy the bike/equipment at fair market value. (Any such arrangements will be the subject of a separate agreement.)

Where will my bike come from?

If you go through the cycle2work scheme, the bike will come from Halfords. If you go through the cycleplus scheme, it could come from a number of organisations (including independent shops) around the UK.

How do I apply for the scheme?

Barnardo's staff can apply online or by calling 01908 303 498.

Alternatively, if you’d like someone to call you to discuss the scheme, you can text 'cycles' and your name to 81025.
