It's for all Barnardo's paid colleagues.

Key points

  • You can apply for additional leave for a number of reasons including bereavement, caring responsibilities and work-related activities. 
  • Your line manager and line manager's manager must approve any periods of additional leave.
  • Requests should be made using our HR and Finance system, Dynamics 365.
  • This policy does not cover unpaid leave for more than 4 weeks, this is covered by the extended leave policy. 

Your responsibilities

  • Colleagues are responsible for reading, understanding and following this policy.
  • As a line manager, you’re responsible for talking to your direct reports about additional leave, agreeing and recording it with through Dynamics 365. 
  • People Teams are responsible for advising and guiding colleagues and line managers on this policy.
  • The People Strategy and Projects Team need to make sure this policy is up to date and complies with current legislation.
