Pride Toolkit

So, you want to organise Barnardo’s presence at your local Pride? Our Pride Toolkit can help you figure out everything you need to do to ensure a great event, and it’s based on the experience of colleagues who have been through it all themselves. 

Attending Pride events across the UK is a fantastic way for Barnardo’s to show our support for the LGBT+ community, including our colleagues and volunteers, and the children, young people, and families that we support.  

What’s in the toolkit? 

Included in the toolkit, you’ll find information on: 

• Assembling a Pride committee 

• Budget and expenses 

• Children and young people’s participation 

• Involvement of our Communications and Retail teams 

• Managing risk assessments and unforeseen circumstances 

• How to engage the public and encourage participation 

• Planning the event from the early stages through to event day 

Organising Barnardo’s attendance at local Pride events, while fun, can feel like a daunting task, especially as there can be so much to think about and consider. We want to make sure that these events are organised in a safe, inclusive and accessible way for everyone – the toolkit makes sure this is the case.  

Using the toolkit 

The toolkit is designed to be used in the way that suits you best, so feel free to pick and choose which information you need and is most relevant to your specific Pride event.  

The toolkit will be updated on a regular basis with the latest information and resources.
