What is Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)?
AVD is for use with a personal computer when you need to access Barnardo’s systems. It provides users with access to Windows desktop and most of our applications in a web browser environment. It creates a ‘virtual bubble’ on your personal computer where you can launch and switch between applications.
AVD is cloud-based and is available on Android, Chromebooks, iOS, MacOS and Windows.
How to get access to Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
You will need to contact the Service Desk to request access to AVD on 0330 222 0199, email or log a call through FirstPoint
Using Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
1. Install the Remote Desktop App
Choose and download the Remote Desktop App for your device.
(How can I tell if my computer is running a 32-bit or a 64-bit version of Windows?)
- If it is a Barnardo’s device, install from the Company Portal (available from the Start Menu on Windows or the App list on Mac, iOS, and Android).
You can also connect through the OKTA dashboard in your web browser; however, please click here to compare the features available when connecting through the different options.
