Criminal Justice Secure Mail (CJSM)

How to use the secure system for criminal justice agencies and practitioners to exchange messages securely.

Criminal justice agencies and practitioners, including public, private and voluntary organisations, can use Criminal Justice Secure Mail to exchange messages securely with each other.

  • CJSM is only available for those working in the criminal justice field.
  • CJSM can only send and receive messages to and from a limited range of addresses.

Using CJSM

CJSM works like a typical webmail client (such as Yahoo mail, Hotmail, Gmail). The main differences are that it is secure and that you can only send and receive messages from a limited range of addresses.

There are learning resources (user guides, videos and demonstrations) available on the CJSM site here.

Administration of CJSM

Barnardo’s has an organisational CJSM account, and requests for individual user accounts should be made via the Service desk.

CSMs should ensure that Criminal Justice Secure Mail accounts are only set up for Barnardo’s employees, and that accounts are removed from the system when those employees leave or change roles.
