How to thrive and grow at Barnardo's

Performance and Growth is an essential part of our Strategy for 2024-2027.

Introducing a new approach to managing performance will help you grow within your role, develop your career, and get recognition for what you do – all while aligning your work to our charity’s core purpose, and your department and strategic goals to pursue excellence. 

We recognise this is a big change for the charity, therefore we will be introducing the new approach in two steps:

  • Colleagues in Pay Grades A, B, C have been part of a pilot of the new approach since October 2023, and will continue until 31 May 2024. This is so we can gather feedback, learn, and make changes to the approach before we roll it out across the charity.
  • Colleagues in Pay Grades D, E, F will join the new approach in Spring 2024.

Colleagues in Pay Grades A, B, and C

Colleagues in Pay Grades A, B, and C are part of the pilot for the new approach, starting in October 2023 and ending on 31 May 2024.

Colleagues in Pay Grades D, E, and F

Colleagues in Pay Grades D, E, and F will join the new process from July 2024, with training in April and May, and goal setting by 30 June. More information and updates will be added to this page. In the meantime, you will continue to review and celebrate your objectives through the current Performance Development Review (PDR).
