Tip: for any Inside Barnardo’s links in this guidance, you can access it from a web browser and do not need to be logged in on Barnardo’s systems.

What is Okta?

Okta is the secure platform that Barnardo’s uses to sign in, authorise and manage users whilst protecting every identity within the organisation. This allows you to be authenticated in our systems to prove you should have access.

With Okta, you only have to remember one password for most applications and to access our systems.  Your Okta password will be the same as the password for your sign-in screen on your computer. Okta will let you access your device (laptop, smartphone, etc) and the main Barnardo’s system to work.

Note: once you are up and running, you may need to set up and use another password to access your mandatory b-Learning on Barnardo’s University. This is because it does not integrate with Okta.

Do you have a Barnardo’s device (laptop, computer, smartphone)?

If No and you will be using your personal device to access Barnardo’s systems, click here. 

If Yes, and you are the only one who will use this computer, click here.

If Yes and your computer will be shared with others, please follow the process on the set-up guides at the bottom of this page. By default, all Barnardo’s Windows desktops and laptops are setup for single user access unless a shared device was requested at the point of order.

There are two types of shared Windows device –

Basic

Only the primary user (the person that originally setup the device) can install applications from the Company Portal. Secondary users will only have access to applications installed by the primary user and the required shortcuts, e.g. Content Server, myPlace etc. This is the default shared device setup.

Full

Both primary and secondary users can install applications from the Company Portal.

If a device needs to setup for shared access, either retrospectively after order or moved from Basic to Full, please contact the Service Desk. Once setup, each user that logs in to the device will need to run a manual sync in the Company Portal for the required shortcuts and settings to apply –

  1. Open the Company Portal
  2. Navigate to Settings (bottom left)
  3. Sync
