It's important our new colleagues feel welcomed and have a sense of belonging from the day they start. 

If you've recently welcomed a new member to your team, or you're about to start their induction, see the resources below to help induct them into the charity.

New Starters pages on Inside Barnardo's

The one-stop shop for new starters to find out everything they need to know when they start. This includes; the employee handbook, how to set up their IT, familiarising themselves with our policies, and more. 

Action: Please share these pages with your new starters during their first few days.

Welcome to Barnardo's sessions

These virtual events are a great introduction to the charity where new starters can hear all about our past, present and future from a member of our Corporate Leadership Team and have the opportunity to ask any questions. Find out more. 

Action: Please continue encouraging your new starter(s) to sign up to one of our upcoming events and support them to attend.

Celebrating one-year work anniversaries

To help recognise our colleagues' milestones, we've introduced Workiversaries. 

This celebration will come in the form of an email from our CEO, Lynn Perry, congratulating and marking a colleagues' one-year work anniversary. 

As line managers, you will be sent a 'heads up' email two weeks' before your line reports' Workiversary so you know when it's coming up and can plan to celebrate in your team if you want to. You'll also be copied into their Workiversary email from Lynn Perry. 

We will extend the Workiversaries to celebrate other key milestones throughout colleagues' careers - watch this space for updates. 

Action: Please look out for the emails and plan to celebrate your colleagues' milestones.

Mandatory training

There are five mandatory training modules; Safeguarding, Health and Safety, EDI, IT and GDPR. Find out more about mandatory training

Action: Please make sure your new starters complete their mandatory training within their first two weeks.
