Voice and Influence

At Barnardo’s, we believe that children and young people should have opportunities to have their voices heard and be taken seriously in decisions that affect them, and that this leads to better decision-making and improved services.

This belief is grounded in our support of the UN Convention on the Rights of Child, which affords children (anyone under the age of 18, including babies) the right to express their views and for these to be taken seriously by adults.

Voice & Influence is the collective term we use to describe the different ways we support, listen to and act on the views and lived experiences of children and young people.

These pages aim to support and strengthen voice and influence work across our charity, to support the ambitions of our 2024-27 Barnardo’s Strategy.
