Is this for you?
It's for all employees who have suffered the loss of a child irrespective of age, or a stillbirth after 24 weeks of pregnancy, on or after 6 April 2020.
Key points
- All employees have the right to take up a maximum of two weeks’ parental bereavement leave.
- This can be taken as individual days, in blocks of one week or two consecutive weeks but must be taken within 56 weeks of the date of the child’s death.
- Employees intending to take parental bereavement leave more than 56 days after the child’s death should give their line manager at least one week's notice.
- Parental bereavement leave cannot be cancelled or amended if it has already begun.
